چکیده

Purpose: Plantar wounds represent a frequent practice of the plastic and reconstructive surgeon. The uniqueness high complexity microarchitecture biomechanics plantar region explain complex challenge its reconstruction. With advances in microsurgery, including subunit principle, both applied restoration defects through use sensorineural free flaps have allowed an optimal reconstruction. Methods: A descriptive, retrospective study was carried out period time established between January 2016 2019, obtaining total 18 patients with defects, reconstructed using sensory flaps. Tissue stability, recovery protective sensitivity, early ambulation, correct footwear were evaluated. Results: most etiology secondary to oncological resections due melanoma (n = 12, 66.7%), followed by gunshot 4, 22.2%). Subunit 3 frequently involved 38.9% 7). In 88.8% cases, used anterolateral thigh flap 16) lateral antebrachial 22.2% 2). survival rate 100%. An average seven points obtained at 6 months based on Semmes-Weinstein test. mean for return their daily activities 2.5 months. 94.4% 17) recovered ambulation could footwear. Conclusion: reconstruction must systematic approached, taking principle as central point. treatment unprecedented option

Quality of innervation in sensate medial plantar flaps for heel reconstruction.

BACKGROUND Reconstruction of the heel represents a difficult challenge for surgeons, given the demand for thick, durable skin capable of withstanding both pressure and shear. The authors describe the use of a sensate medial plantar flap for heel reconstruction in three patients and document the long-term retention of sensation compared with the contralateral uninjured heel and corresponding don...

THE CLINICAL APPLICATION OF PREFABRICATED FREE FLAPS FOR NASAL RECONSTRUCTION

We have found prefabrication of hairless radial forearm free flap to be a useful technique for nasal reconstruction. Prior skin grafting and a suitable period of maturation permits safe, reliable surgery. Its use should be considered in those patients whose forehead tissue is not suitable or in whom appropriate distant flaps are not available, as is often the case with hirsute males.

Sensate free radial forearm flap reconstruction to the instep following recurrent plantar fibromatosis: a case report

Plantar fibromatosis is a complex problem encountered by many surgeons in different specialties. Understanding the complexity of this debilitating disease and awareness of the concept of the reconstructive toolbox is crucial in achieving best surgical outcome. We present a case where an instep defect following an excision of recurrent plantar fibromatosis was reconstructed with a sensate free r...

Modern Oral Cavity Reconstruction with Free Flaps and Pedicled Flaps

Small defects resulting from tumor ablation can be successfully managed with primary closure (i.e., limited excisions within the oral cavity), sometimes can be left to heal for secondary intention (transoral oropharyngeal/laryngeal/hypopharyngeal resections) or can be resurfaced using skin grafts or small local flaps, but in the majority of the cases the resulting defect requires a flap transpo...
